Dear EDYI Dance Family,
I am writing to share an update regarding our teaching staff. After careful consideration and several mentor sessions, we have mutually agreed that Miss Abby is not the right fit for Exhale at this time.
As my vision for Exhale has become clearer, my expectations for staff performance, skill set, and commitment have also evolved. Miss Melissa and I firmly believe that all our instructors must “move with purpose” and possess the necessary skills to ensure every child thrives. We wish Miss Abby the very best in her future endeavors; she appreciated the opportunity to learn and grow here.
Our commitment to the dancers’ best interests remains paramount, which is why I want to address the importance of our core values this season: “Trust, Respect, and Connection.”
Unfortunately, I was recently informed of a text conversation with parents that contained inaccurate and ambiguous information about a staff member and the studio. This type of communication is concerning as it undermines the trust, respect, and connection we strive to build. Furthermore, it creates a significant distraction that deters us from achieving our artistic goals this competition season. As Exhale is increasingly viewed as a role model by other studio owners and industry leaders, this behavior does not align with the professional standard and “winner mentality” we aim to embody.
As our team grows, we will inevitably encounter challenges. My intention with this message is for us all to move forward and ensure these types of distractions do not happen again. I have worked hard to earn your trust and respect over the years. Moving forward, my expectation is that parents will address any concerns directly with the staff and me privately.
This commitment will allow our dancers, teachers, and choreographers to feel safe and fully supported in creating their best artistic work.
As a reminder, I pasted the parent support expectations found in our EDYI handbook below.
With purpose,
Mrs. Jen
PARENT SUPPORT
In order to teach your children not only the technical and expressive aspects of dance but also the importance of teamwork and commitment it is imperative that we have your full support. We are always open to constructive feedback and ideas for improvement. Negative emails, gossip, text messages or talk about dancers or staff is unacceptable. The teacher’s or directors decisions regarding choreography, leveling and staffing are final.
Please know that the teachers and staff at Exhale always have the students’ best interests at heart. We want you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We cannot fix issues that we do not know about.
Using social media to vent your displeasure about Exhale is considered unsportsmanlike conduct. This type of behavior certainly does not create the proper role model and will NOT be tolerated in our company.
